CFE practice exam 2026
Certified Fraud Examiner, issued by ACFE. The leading anti-fraud credential. Three sections, 310 questions, 75% per section.
Aligned to CFE exam (three-section format since June 2026) · Checked for changes November 2026
Built for the new three-section CFE exam (June 2026)
On 2 June 2026 the ACFE replaced the four-section CFE exam with three sections: Fraud Schemes and Financial Crimes (120 questions), Fraud Investigations and Legal Issues (120) and Fraud Prevention and Deterrence (70). Our CFE questions and section scores follow the new structure. Much older prep material still uses the old four sections.

About the CFE exam
CFE tests whether you can prevent, detect and investigate fraud: occupational and external fraud schemes, financial crimes, evidence, interviewing, the legal side of investigations, and the theory and controls behind fraud prevention. Questions follow the three-section exam the ACFE introduced in June 2026.

Next steps after CFE
- Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS): Covers fraud together with money laundering, sanctions, corruption, cyber and tax. A good second credential if your role goes beyond fraud.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS): The main AML credential. Fraud investigators in banks often add it because fraud proceeds end up being laundered.

Why not just ask a free AI chatbot?
Chatbots are good for explaining a concept. They are a poor way to find out whether you would pass the CFE exam.
Questions that match the exam
Scenario questions, "what should you do FIRST" questions and select-two/select-three questions in the style of the real exam, spread across the domains by their exam weights. A chatbot writes easy recall questions and never tells you which part of the syllabus you skipped.
Checked answers with a source
Every answer is checked by a person against the FATF Recommendations, the BSA, the EU AML package or OFAC guidance, and cites its source. Chatbots still invent rules, thresholds and deadlines with confidence, and you can't tell when.
Your weak points, tracked
We remember every answer, score you by section against the pass mark, and let you retrain only what you got wrong. A chat window forgets you when you close it.
Updated for 2026
Every month we check FATF, ACAMS, FinCEN, OFAC, the EU and UK for changes and update the questions. You can see each change on our updates page. A chatbot's knowledge stops at its training date.
CFE questions people ask
Is this the official ACFE CFE Exam Prep Course?
No. Our questions are written independently from public sources such as the ACFE fraud classification, COSO guidance and rules of evidence. We are not affiliated with the ACFE.
Does it follow the new three-section CFE exam?
Yes. Questions are grouped into the three sections the ACFE introduced on 2 June 2026: Fraud Schemes and Financial Crimes, Fraud Investigations and Legal Issues, and Fraud Prevention and Deterrence. You get a score per section, like the real exam, where you need 75% in each.
How long do I keep access?
One year from purchase. It's a one-off payment; nothing renews.
